2009 NBTA Asia Pacific and Virgin Blue Group of Airlines Excellence Award

The Excellence Award winner was announced at the NBTA Asia Pacific Conference during a cocktail party hosted by the Novotel Canberra and NBTA Asia Pacific.

This year the worthy recipient is Liz Newberry, Corporate Travel Manager at the University of Southern Queensland. 

Liz is based on the University's Toowoomba campus and has been involved in managing travel on behalf of the University for a number of years putting systems, procedures and policies in place for the travel undertaken by University staff. In a former life she was on the other side of the desk and her airline and travel agency experience has assisted her in understanding the travel market and applying best practice to her busy role. Liz's submission to the Excellence Award was based on the categories of:

*        Leading Practice Marketing and Compliance of a Travel Policy

*        Risk Management/Duty of Care

*        Negotiation of TMC or Supplier Contracts

*        Implementation of a self booking tool.

Liz's prize includes 2 Business Class Tickets with V Australia to Houston to attend the NBTA Convention in August 2010.

Congratulations also to the Finalist for the award, Jacki White, Category and Contracts Administrator - Indirect Procurement - South Pacific Region - BOC Limited.

Jacki's submission addressed the categories of:

*        Travel Industry & Policy Awareness (Marketing)

*        Compliance within the Travel Categories
