Cradles to Crayons and GBTA Lend a Hand to Children in Need

Alexandria, VA (August 14, 2012) —The Global Business Travel Association (GBTA)—the voice of the global business travel industry — partnered with the Boston affiliate of Cradles to Crayons (C2C) for their annual service project.  The service project, sponsored by RAPTIM International, Carino Hotel Group, and the Puget Sound Business Travel Association, aided Cradles to Crayons in their mission of providing children from birth to pre-teen with the clothing, books, safety equipment, and other basics they need to thrive.

Over fifty leaders in the business travel industry rolled up their sleeves to volunteer at the 2012 GBTA Cares initiative held at the GBTA Convention 2012 in Boston.  GBTA Cares aggregates resources from the travel community to support CSR initiatives around the globe.  The volunteers sorted and packaged donations into customized “C2C KidPacks” which will be distributed to disadvantaged children across the state of Massachusetts through a collaborative network of local social service agencies.

“We are proud of our long GBTA tradition of doing good deeds within the community where our Convention is hosted each year.  We are happy to be supporting Cradles to Crayons as their organization provides hundreds of children with needed supplies,” said Daphne Bryant, executive director, GBTA Foundation.

Through their collective efforts and hard work, GBTA Cares Service Project volunteers impacted the lives of 610 local children.  The volunteers put together toy and clothing packs, sorted through clothing and assembled arts and crafts packs.

Cradles to Crayons Corporate Volunteer Coordinator, Angela Martano said, "The efforts of GBTA will benefit children living in low-income and homeless situations living all across Massachusetts. It’s unique and interesting to host a group from all over the country that is so excited about giving back to a community that isn’t even their own.  I hope their excitement will resound now into their own communities and they can find a way to connect with service in their hometowns."
